Is The Education System One Giant Factory In Disguise?

Everything’s tracked.

Everything’s separated into batches.

Everything has an expected outcome.

Everything has a set path.

Everything should conform.

Everything should follow the rules.

Everything that fails is discarded.

That’s your average factory. To get your average school just substitute the word “everyone” for “everything”.

In factories the machines are moving towards being able to think for themselves. In our schools…

It seems that few education administrators have either read Dewey’s 1938 book “Experience and Education”…or, they’ve forgotten the lessons learned from reading, and understanding his logic. Industrialized education produces industry ready citizens. Education based on experience produces citizens with experience who continually seek more experience. “Experience is the source of knowledge, everything else is just information.”

Money is not life. Whereas, exchanging goods and services with each other and the natural world, building relationships, becoming empowered, and knowing and loving nature is life.

When I’ve made my life about making money, I’ve lost my focus on fun, playfulness, passions, and purpose. Seeking a balance is my life’s lesson, and goal.
